Fair Trade: Material Matters

Fair Trade:Material Matters

exhibition and workshops

Fair Trade: Material Matters has been awarded Arts Council England project funding.

This work is a growing community, through drawn and stitched self-portraits. Using undyed recycled blankets and woad dyed yarn, it combines original artwork and elements of environmental and community art projects.

This ongoing work is ideal for a wide variety of venues, at each place more portraits are collected. Conversations about the value of art, work and self image take place. Especially significant since the COVID19 pandemic has changed our experiences of community.

I am really proud to be presenting this project at several community venues in Cambridgeshire this autumn.

The first exhibition and workshops were held at Arbury Community Centre, Cambridge, in conjunction with The Cambridge Ethnic Community Forum and local residents.

The next venues will be Adams Heritage Centre, Littleport and Soham Library, see below for dates and times.

There will be a new website published soon, to see the current project website see http://fairtradematerialmatters.org/
